Jon Mackley

Jon Mackley worked in Film Production and Public Relations before attending the University of Stirling as a mature student to study a degree in English Studies. Here, he discovered a passion for Medieval Literature and he continued to study, first a Master’s degree in Late Medieval Studies and then a PhD in Latin and Anglo-Norman Literature at the University of York.

 

He is currently Adjunct Associate Professor at Richmond American University. Previously he was Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the BA English degree at the University of Northampton. His novels include Isla’s Inscryption, The Gawain Legacy and Crossing the Threshold. In addition to contributing academic chapters to volumes on Medieval, Gothic and Contemporary literature as well as mythology and folklore, he has published a full-length academic study on The Legend of St Brendan, and translations of Anglo-Norman poems. He also edited a gothic novel called Who’s the Murderer? or The Mysteries of the Forest by Eleanor Sleath (a contemporary of Jane Austen) for the Valancourt Press. He has published the eight-volume library of serial novels featuring the Victorian folk anti-hero, Spring-Heeled Jack, and submitted a second Eleanor Sleath novel for publication with a major university press

He is Head of Education for Give-Get-Go CIC, a Fellow of Advance HE and of the Royal Historical Society.
